OUR VISION

Our vision is to become the global manufacturing leader for mobile, light-weight, modular, fuel desulfurization systems.

OUR STORY

Desulf-Tek was spun-off from the University of Dayton in 2021 to commercialize the novel fuel desulfurization technology developed at the University of Dayton Research Institute. Desulf-Tek was founded by Albert Vam, who is Desulf-Tek's Chief Executive Officer. Desulf-Tek founding team soon began recruiting the required expertise to perfect the process, and unleash the mobile desulfurized into the market. The expertise was sought in manufacturing, product quality, logistics, and customer success.

Since the early days, Desulf-Tek has received considerable support from state and local government, local startup incubators/accelerators (such as the Entrepreneurs’ Center at The Hub) to build and launch the newborn business into a technology-driven community

It all started in 2014.

OUR MISSION

What we strive for.

  • Make desulfurization more accessible around the globe.

  • Reduce sulfur emission from fuel combustion.

  • Provide reliable portable desulfurization solutions that meet customer requirements.

  • Support emerging technologies that require low-sulfur liquid fuels, such as fuel reforming to power fuel cells.

MEET THE DESULF-TEK TEAM

FOUNDER, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Albert Vam

After 10 years of entrepreneurship followed by 10 years in the field of Process Engineering, Mr. Vam decided to take the new mobile desulfurization technology he developed  into the market. During the 20 years of his career, Albert held several positions in Management, Operations, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Engineering and Research & Development. As an entrepreneur and engineer, Mr. Vam was convinced that success of an organization depends on the vision, diversity, and cohesion of his team. For this reason, Mr. Vam has focused on learning how to build powerful, diverse teams that possess complementary skills to move common missions forward. Mr. Vam received a B.S in Chemistry from Indiana University and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Dayton, where he later was offered a Chemical Engineer position at University of Dayton Research Institute. At UDRI, Albert worked extensively on energy-related projects. Albert spent the last 9 years at UDRI working on a series of technology development contracts to develop a fuel desulfurization system that can fit in a shipping container, to meet his customers’ needs. Albert developed, patented, and scaled the required desulfurization technology; with the help of his team at UDRI, he successfully established the technology and decided to commercialize through Desulf-Tek, LLC.

Mr. Chet Ciancarelli joined the Desulf-Tek, LLC team to support efforts to commercialize desulfurization technology. He is an experienced Systems Engineer and Program Manager with nearly 40 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry working primarily on F-35 and F-16 fighter aircraft. In that role, Mr. Ciancarelli worked very closely with US and Partner nation military service members to deliver the capabilities needed to make our warfighters effective and to keep them safe while supporting sustainment of those products in the field. His background is primarily in production but has significant experience in development and sustainment as well. Mr. Ciancarelli has led multiple defense contracts from proposal and contract negotiation through delivery, sustainment and closeout. He holds BS and MS degrees in engineering from the University of Florida and the University of Texas at Austin respectively and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas
